FOLK DANCE FIESTA

“Folk Dance Fiesta” is an ambitious and vital project aimed at addressing some of the most pressing issues faced by young people in Europe today. At the heart of our initiative is the desire to use traditional folk dances and creative arts as powerful tools to overcome cultural divides, promote social inclusion, and foster a sense of shared European identity. The objectives of this project, specifically from a youth work practice perspective, are designed to empower young participants by providing them with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to thrive in an increasingly diverse and interconnected Europe.
Project Objectives: Empower Marginalized Youth Through Cultural Expression: Objective: To empower marginalized youth by providing them with a platform to express their cultural heritage through traditional folk dances and creative arts. This expression serves as a means of building self-esteem, fostering pride in their cultural backgrounds, and enabling them to take an active role in their communities.

Youth Work Perspective: By engaging in folk dances and cultural activities, young people learn to value their own identities while respecting others, which is a cornerstone of effective youth work practice.

  1. Promote Social Inclusion and Intercultural Dialogue:
  • Objective: To create an inclusive environment where young people from diverse backgrounds can engage in meaningful
intercultural dialogue, facilitated by shared experiences in traditional folk dances and cultural exchange.
  • Youth Work Perspective: Social inclusion and the promotion of intercultural dialogue are fundamental goals in youth work.
This project aims to break down barriers between young people of different backgrounds, fostering mutual understanding
and respect through non-formal education methods.
  • ‘Folk Dance Fiesta’ is a Youth Exchange Project (KA-152 YE), which will take place in Kütahya between 09-15 JUNE with the participation of 35 young people from Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, North Macedonia and Türkiye.
